Happy 2010

January 11, 2010 - 1:39 pm No Comments
We thank everyone for all the support of The African Book of Names, and AfrikanNames.com this past year.  We are thankful for each of you who took the time to share a name, or send a message or post a comment. We are thankful for each of you who purchased a book, or wrote a review on Amazon.com.

Our hope is that in 2010 we can find ways to interact with African names and languages more.  Perhaps you will share lists of African names, or give your children African names.  Perhaps you will select an African name for yourself, a project, or a business. Whatever you choose, know that together, we can encourage African descended people around the world to affirm their African heritage by embracing African names and languages; and promote the beauty and light of Africa.

Please enjoy these names for the new year:

KISASA (kee-SAH-sah) New, modern.Kenya, Tanzania
NYONGPUA A new thing has come.Cameroon (Mubako)
SABO (SAH-boh) New.West Africa (Hausa)
SHA (SHAH) New.Azania (Zulu)
UPYA (OOP-yah) Something new.Kiswahili
YALERO (yah-LEH-roh) It is new.Zambia (Chewa)
ZWELITSHA (zway-LEET-shah) New world.Azania (Xhosa)

We truly wish for each of you, at least 365 days filled with laughter, joy and abundance.  In 2010, let there be light, infinite blessings, goodness, health, happiness and ties that bind African people around the world.
